Dominik Mysterio wasn’t really liked when he was a plain babyface when he teamed up with his father Rey Mysterio. Things changed for Domink Mysterio after he turned heel last year and things have truly become better for him. Now it appears Dominik made a bold statement about Eddie Guerrero.
Dominik Mysterio appeared on WWE in 2005 during a heated storyline featuring Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. The two fought over the custody of Dominik. Eddie was determined to prove that he was Dominik’s father, and this led to the now-iconic ladder match between himself and Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam 2005.
While speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Dominik Mysterio talked about how Eddie Guerrero might have factored into his rivalry with Rey Mysterio. Dominik stated that he believes Eddie Guerrero would have sided with him.
“I think in a perfect world, if Eddie was still here, he would have been on my dad’s side, a special guest referee [at WrestelMania]. And at the end of the day, he would have picked my side. I think he would’ve been with my dad all along, telling him that he’s going to handle business, “he’s just going through a phase”, and at the end of the day he comes with me.
Eddie’s music hits, and of course that hits a special nerve in me. ‘My God, this dude, he’s really trying to pull the strings here.’ Then that classic Rey Mysterio music – it was all just a very surreal moment.”
Dominik had repeatedly brought up Eddie Guerrero during his current run as a heel and even previously told Rey Mysterio that he wished Eddie was his real father. We’ll have to wait and see how WWE will continue to book Dominik Mysterio in the coming months, especially after his loss to Cody Rhodes at WWE Money In The Bank.
