WWE expanded to the UK market with the introduction of NXT UK in June 2018. This project gave birth to top talent such as Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne, Gunther and many more. NXT UK talent assumed that WWE was going to shut down the brand for good, which is what happened in the end. Now it appears that the WWE and UFC’s merger slowed down plans for NXT Europe.
WWE announced NXT Europe, as NXT UK is a thing of the past. NXT Europe will “reimagine the brand and talent pipeline” with a renewed focus on Europe. They released a lot of talent due to this move.
It was also reported that WWE has huge plans for NXT Europe. William Regal previously revealed that NXT Europe was in the process for many years. That said, WWE became busier thanks to their merger with the UFC under Endeavor.
While speaking on the post-Money In The Bank media scrum, Triple H was asked if plans for NXT Europe were still underway. The Game admitted that the WWE and UFC’s merger slowed down plans for NXT Europe.
“It’s just slowed down the process I think … At some point, end of the year, last year, whatever it is, we said in ’23 it would happen. Not having a crystal ball to see where everything was headed in that moment in time, obviously this transition with this merger with UFC with Endeavor and TKO, it’s changed the timeframe. But I think the intent is still the same.
I mentioned under the premise of WrestleMania and premium live events going global, we’re a global company. We’re looking to be everywhere. And I think … there are a lot of amazing talents here, internationally. And we’d love to explore that and give them opportunities to shine on the biggest stage possible and see what we can do with that. It’s just going to take a little bit of time.”
Triple H also previously stated that there has been a lot of progress on NXT Europe. WWE is also looking to bring in new partners for NXT Europe. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more from the world of pro wrestling.
