Samoa Joe had a successful run in NXT before making his way to the WWE main roster but also experienced being released by the company on two occasions. This made him well-versed in the realities of the industry. Many fans feel his WWE run left much to be desired and it appears Kurt Angle shares this view.

At NXT TakeOver 36, Samoa Joe emerged victorious against Karrion Kross, capturing the NXT Championship. Unfortunately, a subsequent injury forced Joe to relinquish the title and resulted in a prolonged absence from NXT programming.

In the end, Samoa Joe was released by the company once again back in January 2022. He eventually made his way to AEW and has since been part of the AEW as well as the ROH roster.

While speaking on the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show, WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle talked about how WWE used Samoa Joe. Angle stated that he believes the company could have done more with him.

Joe, he got utilized properly in TNA at the beginning. Until he lost his undefeated streak against me, his value dropped dramatically. They’ve never really picked back up and brought Joe back to the level he was when he was undefeated.

I think that WWE could have done more with him. They did do some, they did a lot, but I know they could have done more. He was that talented. I’m not sure if it had to do with his look. I love his look. I think that everybody should be different; big, tall, short, wide. Doesn’t matter. I don’t know if it had to do with his look, but Samoa Joe was so talented. He deserved to be a WWE Champion, he really did. Probably and that’s not me blowing smoke, that’s me being honest.”

Samoa Joe is the current ROH Television Champion and continues to be a defending champion in the ROH brand. He is also set to be portraying the role of Sweet Tooth in the upcoming ‘Twisted Metal’ series on Peacock. We’ll have to see what the future holds for Samoa Joe in the coming weeks.
