Vince McMahon came back as the Executive Chairman of WWE earlier this year and fans feared the worst as they believed McMahon was going to take over the Creative aspect once again. Their fears came true as McMahon ended up changing several plans for Smackdown last week. It appears that McMahon’d mindset for such changes has been revealed.
During a previous week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Iyo Sky accepted Shotzi’s challenge on Bayley’s behalf, putting her spot in Money In The Bank on the line in a match for this week’s show.
However, as it turned out, the match ended up getting scrapped. This is because Vince McMahon ended up making changes to the show. That wasn’t the only change as a triple threat between LA Knight, Butch and Santos Escobar, and Baron Corbin vs Cameron were nixed as well.
In fact, WWE personnel were actively trying to prevent Vince McMahon from changing plans. According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he referred to a source “close the situation,” who gave more insight into Vince McMahon’s mindset for such last-minute changes.
“It’s noted that Vince believes he understands the business and is doing what he thinks is the best thing, as he always thinks. As one person close to the situation noted, “He believes in what he says. Is he wrong all the time? No. Actually he’s not. He’s actually got better input than most would believe. Is it all good? No, he’s stuck on certain mindsets that are long gone, and it could be damaging.
It’s not the interference itself that is the problem. It’s how and when he does it.” It was noted that if he delivered all this input on Thursday night for Smackdown, or even Friday morning, or Sunday night for Raw, or even Monday morning, it would be different.
Making all these changes three or four hours before the show goes on the air live throws everything into the chaos that it has been of late.”
Triple H is also booking against Vince McMahon’s changes for Friday Night Smackdown. The Game was not happy about Vince McMahon making changes either. Regardless, Vince Mcmahon has the final say in everything that goes on in WWE and that will never change now.
