Finn Balor is a former 2-time NXT Champion and was truly one of the most significant names in NXT. However, neither of his main roster runs proved to be memorable at all. He has seen a lot of success in WWE throughout his career and it appears Balor stated his babyface run was a WWE directive.
For the majority of his time in WWE, Finn Balor has been a babyface and not a heel. Back in June last year, Finn Balor joined Judgement Day and ended up taking over the faction. They all kicked out Edge and shocked fans. It marked the first time Balor was a heel in pro wrestling in many years.
While speaking on After the Bell, Finn Balor talked about his current heel persona and stated that wrestling as a heel comes to him more naturally than competing as a face. Balor added that his babyface run was a WWE directive.
“This has been the goal since I first put on a pair of wrestling boots. You know, I was born to be a heel. When I started this at 18 years old, I was a heel for years upon years and it wasn’t until I came to NXT in my first run that I started to learn or to be taught how to be a babyface.
It was something that was kind of very much a WWE directive. That’s how they saw me, but that’s not really how I see myself.
It’s been very much an exploratory and a couple of months for me and kind of getting back to what I feel I do best, or at least what makes me happiest in the ring.
I don’t know if it’s what I actually do best, but it’s what I enjoyed the most, so I’ve really thrived personally in the last couple months, I feel.”
Finn Balor will challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Money In The Bank Premium Live Event on July 1st. We will have to wait and see how the match will turn out.
