Dakota Kai was released back in May 2022 but came back during SummerSlam that year, where she returned as part of Damage CTRL alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky. While she won championship gold afterwards, things just didn’t go well for Kai. Kai also suffered an unfortunate ACL injury recently and it appears that she is recovering well.
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez squared off against Dakota Kai and Bayley as they defended their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. While Morgan and Rodriguez retained their titles, Morgan did not leave unscathed.
After all, Liv Morgan hurt her shoulder during the match. That’s not all as Dakota Kai ended up suffering a major ACL injury after performing a move from the top rope, in a bid to ensure Morgan didn’t get hurt.
Dakota Kai would then undergo surgery for her ACL injury and recently revealed that she is finally out of her leg brace. While speaking on a recent Twitch stream, Dakota Kai revealed that her recovery is moving really quickly.
“(At rehab) I did sled pushes today which are like, death. And I managed to squat with the bar and the squat rack, so we are getting there. It’s not even been five weeks out and this is moving really quickly. This is good for me because there’s only so much of the early rehab days that I can do.”
Dakota Kai will be out of action anywhere between six to nine months after her surgery. In all likelihood, fans might not even get to see Dakota Kai until next year. Regardless, we wish Dakota Kai a speedy recovery and hope she returns as soon as possible.
