The early 2010s saw the rise and fall of The Nexus – one of WWE’s greatest failures in many ways. The faction includes some solid talent, including the likes of Justin Gabriel. Several years removed from WWE, it appears Gabriel looked unrecognizable thanks to his new look.
Justin Gabriel is known for his work as part of The Nexus and The Corre before he was released by WWE back in 2015. Following his departure, he started going by the name PJ Black.
PJ Black has competed all over the world in numerous promotions, including Impact Wrestling, Lucha Underground, Ring of Honor and more. While speaking with PWMania.com, Gabriel showed off a mustache and goatee, looking unrecognizable in the process.
“I didn’t plan on growing this beard during lockdowns, I kind of just grew a little goatee unto a point. And it just started growing and growing…I even cut a bit off every week. And I was like this will work for this new character that I’m trying to launch. This Dr. Darewolf / shaman character, which I have not yet…fully pulled the trigger on, but I’ve dropped some hints on it. So it kind of works. So let’s see where it goes.”
PJ Black still wrestles on the independent circuit. Last year, he also squared off against Yuya Uemura and Black Taurus in an X Division Championship tournament in Impact Wrestling. We’ll have to see whether PJ Black will ever make his way back to WWE somewhere down the line.
