The Rock is known for a lot of things, including his charity and giving nature. He gives a lot, and it obviously makes him feel good to give back. Now, we have another instance of The Rock going out of his way for some good PR.
The Rock is true to his word as he plans to meet up with struggling UFC fighter Themba Gorimbo. The 32-year-old MMA fighter expressed his excitement about the upcoming meeting, calling it surreal and a dream come true to meet The Rock.
Themba Gorimbo’s financial struggles came into the spotlight when ESPN shared his story last month, revealing he had only $7 in his bank account before his UFC Fight Night bout in Las Vegas. The tweet resonated with Dwayne, as he had also experienced a similar situation in the past, starting with just $7 in his pocket after his football career ended in 1995.
The Rock reached out to support Themba Gorimbo, because The Great One has struggled in his life before as well. He offered Themba some assistance, and he gave words of encouragement, drawing from his own experiences and stating that he would be in touch.
Now, according to Themba Gorimbo, the long-awaited face-to-face meeting between the two is on the horizon, and he couldn’t be happier. Referring to themselves as the “seven bucks boys,” Gorimbo considers the number seven to be his lucky charm. When they finally meet, the Zimbabwean fighter hopes to discuss his life story and potentially have The Rock create a movie based on his journey.
We’ll have to see if there is any more to this story as time goes on. In other news, The Rock is coming off a string of losses with Black Adam bombing, the XFL losing money, and Young Rock’s cancellation. So, he could certainly use a win.
