Former WWE Superstar Paul Wight used to be known as Big Show in the WWE. He spent more than two decades there before he decided to take his skills elsewhere. That said, it appears that Wight vowed to bring back his Captain Insano character again before retiring.
Paul Wight debuted in AEW back in 2021 and has been a staple of the company since then. For the most part, he worked as part of the commentary team on AEW Dark and Elevation but also competed a couple of times.
AEW previously filed a trademark for his “Captain Insano” character, which Wight played in the 1998 film Waterboy starring Adam Sandler. This eventually led to Wight making a cameo as Captain Insano during The Acclaimed’s music video last year.
Paul Wight has not competed in a match in over 15 months, with his last match taking place on the March 30 episode of AEW Dark: Elevation. A fan took to Twitter and asked Wight if he would write a book about his life and career. Wight made it clear that he still has chapters to write in his career, including appearances from Captain Insano.
Probably not. Well at least not until I retire. I’m still writing chapters in my life. Going to have fun with Captain Insano before I hang up the boots for good. But thank you for the inquiry😎💪❤️
The gimmick was supposed to return at Dynamite Grand Slam last year, but that didn’t happen. We will have to wait and see when Paul Wight will return as Captain Insano on AEW television.
