Fans were eagerly waiting for CM Punk’s return on the debut episode of Collision, as it marked the first time he appeared on AEW television since All Out last year. Needless to say, fans were more than satisfied with what they got on the show. He competed again on Collision this week and it appears Punk cut a promo after the show went off the air.
Following up on his announcement from Dynamite this past week, CM Punk teamed up with FTR and Ricky Starks to take on the team of The Gunns (Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) & Bullet Club Gold (Jay White & Juice Robinson) in the main event.
It was truly a thrilling match from start to finish, as it was evident every competitor was having a lot of fun. That said, CM Punk received a lot of boos throughout the show. In the end, Punk’s team was unable to secure the win.
After AEW Collision went off the air, CM Punk addressed the mixed reaction he got during the show. The Second City Saint took responsibility for his team’s loss and promised to rise back up just like the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“I would like to make this short and sweet. As the team captain, I take full responsibility for the loss. I want you all to know, even though I lose sometimes, I’m going to keep on coming back and fighting, just like your Toronto Maple Leafs.”
CM Punk is set to square off against Satoshi Kojima at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 25th. We will have to wait and see whether Punk will be able to win the match.
