Rush Criticized For Abusing His Power After AAA Departure

Former ROH World Champion Rush signed a contract with AEW after various appearances last year. Since then, he has become a valuable asset to Tony Khan’s company. That said, Rush left AAA recently and it appears he was criticized for abusing his power with the move.

As previously reported, Rush announced that both he and his father had quit working for AAA and are back to being independents. Rush was scheduled to team alongside LA Park against Psycho Clown and Sam Adonis at TripleMania 31 in Tijuana, with the losing team set to square off against each other in a Mask vs Hair match at TripleMania Mexico City.

With this shocking move, Rush ended up putting AAA in a very bad situation. Naturally, this move was met with a lot of criticism as many felt Rush was being selfish and reckless.

While speaking on the K100 podcast, pro wrestling veteran Konnan talked about Rush’s actions leading to his shocking AAA departure. He criticized Rush for abusing his power with the AAA departure.

“(RUSH) was mad because we weren’t using him enough, but one of the things is … they (LFI) had a feud … it was against the Dynamite Brothers.

Now one of the Dynamite Brothers is the guy (El Cuatrero) that they put in jail for supposedly choking that girl wrestler. So it’s very hard to do anything ’cause this guy’s in jail.

I thought he was going to get out quick, so I was waiting for him to get out, so I wasn’t getting them work.

Plus RUSH, bro, he charges a lot of f****** money. And it’s, like, bro, you’re not in the United States. I have a budget. And when I put you on the show, you eat a quarter of my f****** thing.

I’d rather bring in two or three other wrestlers. I thought what he did was very unprofessional, and I also had another wrestler try to pull that s*** with me not too recently, and I’m not going to forget that either.

But, you know, they get power, they’re in the United States, and they abuse their f****** power and they do s*** like this.”

Rush also announced the birth of his daughter recently. Rush last appeared on the May 26 episode of AEW Rampage, where he teamed with Dralistico and Preston Vance, and they lost to Acclaimed and Billy Gunn. We’ll have to see when he will return to AEW television.
