Kazuchika Okada is touted as one of the greatest pro wrestlers in the history of the business. He has competed in numerous top-class matches and continues to be held to a very high standard. While many believed Okada would eventually square off against CM Punk, it appears that match may not happen now.
Kazuchika Okada has been at the apex of the pro wrestling world, thanks to his awe-inspiring reigns as the IGWP Heavyweight Champion, feuding with the likes of Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kenny Omega, Tetsuya Naito and many more.
CM Punk and The Elite have a lot of issues since their infamous brawl at AEW All Out last year. It came to such a point that both parties are being separated even now, with the likelihood of them working together being almost zero.
Kazuchika Okada stated last year that he will square off against CM Punk one day. However, while speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Okada clarified that he is unsure about facing Punk now as he is good friends with The Young Bucks.
“I’m not sure,” he said, laughing, through an interpreter. “The Young Bucks are kind of friends of mine, but if fans want to see the match, I want to do it. In Chicago.”
NJPW decided to book Kazuchika Okada vs Bryan Danielson for this year’s Forbidden Door event this week, so fans will at least get to see one major dream match. Unfortunately, it appears fans will have to give up on Okada vs CM Punk for the foreseeable future.
