Jim Ross is a WWE Hall of Famer, and AEW signed him on for a reason. He has remained on AEW television, but his role has diminished over the years. Now that he’s on Collision, it seems that he will take a short break to heal now.

During the premiere episode of AEW Collision, Jim Ross joined Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness on the announcement team for the main event. However, earlier in the day, Ross had a fall which he documented on Twitter by sharing a photo of his black eye.

In the main event featuring CMFTR against Samoa Joe, Jay White, and Juice Robinson, Ross’s voice was noticeably hoarse and croaky. Following the show, Ross apologized for his performance and announced his decision to step away for healing.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that Ross believed he had suffered a concussion from the fall. Despite this, Ross maintains a dedicated work mentality.

Nobody said much more past he believed he had suffered a concussion from the fall but he’s got that mentality regarding work. He wanted to work through his recent painful skin cancer treatments although wasn’t able to for a time but came back immediately after the treatments were over even though he hadn’t recovered from them.

We’re hoping that Jim Ross is able to make it back to television every week. He is still loved by fans all over, so only time will tell if he ever really hangs up his cowboy hat.
