Fans were eagerly waiting for CM Punk’s return on the debut episode of Collision, as it marked the first time he appeared on AEW television since All Out last year. Punk was clearly the main draw for the show and it is safe to say even Eric Bischoff had a high opinion of the show.
CM Punk started the show with a long promo where he addressed a lot of things. The Second City Saint made it clear that he is not giving back the AEW World Championship, which he never lost.
The show garnered a lot of fan interest in a big way as well. Eric Bischoff has always been highly critical in the past year when it comes to anything related to AEW and fans believed he would never stop.
While speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff talked about last week’s episode of AEW Collision. Surprisingly enough, he praised the episode and stated that it erased the last year of AEW for him.
“I more than enjoyed the show. It completely erased the last 12 months of my opinion of AEW, and I’m going into it with an entirely clean slate.
Whoever booked this s*** — whoever was in the room, whoever had the most influence over the formatting and the pacing — don’t ever let that person out of your sight. Maybe it was Tony [Khan]. I don’t think so, because I’ve never seen anything out of AEW come remotely close to the level of near-perfection [of the ‘Collision’] formatting.”
We will have to wait and see whether CM Punk and The Elite will be able to work together somewhere down the line, especially after the shot he took at The Bucks. Regardless, only time will tell if Collision will end up being a consistently good show.
