WWE has a long list of potential future champions on their roster, and many see the former King of the Ring, Xavier Woods, as future top name. Kofi Kingston is all about the idea of seeing his friend as World Champion.

Kofi Kingston has firsthand experience of holding the WWE Championship. This is thanks to his historic journey in 2019 to KofiMania. His rise to the top of the card culminated in a huge victory over Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35.

Kofi Kingston’s championship reign came to an end when he lost the title to Brock Lesnar on the October 4, 2019, episode of SmackDown on FOX. That squash match is still a sticking point with some fans.

During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Kofi Kingston expressed his belief that his close friend, Xavier Woods, has what it takes to become a future WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

“It’s coming. You know, it’s coming. It’s just a matter of time. I’ve been out now for almost 12 weeks and Woods has been doing his thing as a singles competitor. I don’t think a lot of people realize how talented he is. He’s just out there proving it every single week, you know, it’s just a matter of time. But what he did do. I don’t know if you watched the Up, Up, Down, Down livestream that we had schools outs was the theme.

Woods and Mids have been having a rivalry back and forth playing video games. Anytime Woods beats Miz, Miz puts one of his replica titles on the line. So Woods just beat Miz for his WWE Championship. Exactly. Yeah. If this is what we like to call foreshadowing, you know what I’m saying? Like, it’s just a matter, it’s just a matter of time, you know?”

We will have to see what the future holds for Xavier Woods. He carried on his own when Kofi Kingston was out of action, and he is still waiting for Kofi’s return. Big E hasn’t been seen on WWE television since his broken neck over a year ago.

Only time will tell if the New Day will someday hold a major singles title in WWE by the time they are through. It would certainly be a great addition to their already WWE Hall of Fame worthy run as a team.

What’s your take on WWE’s booking for the New Day? Should they ever break up? Sound off in the comments!
