Chris Jericho has been part of the pro wrestling business for well over three decades now and has accomplished a lot in his career till now. While he may not be everyone’s favorite anymore, there is no denying how influential he is. That said, it appears that there is doubt over Chris Jericho being the right person for Sting’s retirement match.
Chris Jericho has faced off against the best of the best the pro wrestling world has to offer, throughout his career in various promotions. That said, there are still quite a few talent he hasn’t gotten to work with just yet.
As seen on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho were involved in a promo segment. Eventually, Sting came out and had a confrontation with The Ocho.
While speaking on The Wrestling Time Machine, pro wrestling veteran Bill Apter talked about Sting’s retirement match. Apter expressed his doubt over Chris Jericho being the right person to retire Sting.
“I’m in Chris Jericho’s corner on this one. I don’t know if I want to see that match, and it’s not that Sting can’t perform, but I don’t think Chris Jericho would be the right person. We all talked for years about The Undertaker vs. Sting, something we all wanted to see. But I’m trying to think now, in AEW, who the opponent actually would be for Sting’s retirement match. And I’m looking in my head, and I don’t see anyone there.”
Regardless, we will have to wait and see how AEW will book Sting and Chris Jericho’s feud in the coming weeks. Perhaps Jericho might end up retiring Sting in the end.
