Ahead of the launch of AEW Collision, details about the potential plan for the Elite if CM Punk appears on Dynamite have been revealed.
AEW’s new weekly show, Collision, will premiere on Saturday, June 17, and will mark CM Punk’s return to wrestling. Punk will team up with FTR to take on Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe.
This match will be Punk’s first since September 2022, as he was sidelined due to a tricep injury and a previous suspension following a backstage altercation involving him and The Elite.
Initially, there were reports suggesting that a brand split would be implemented to accommodate Punk’s appearances on either Collision or Dynamite, while The Elite would work the other brand. However, AEW President Tony Khan has since addressed these rumors and clarified that the company is not currently considering a hard roster split.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, those within Warner Bros Discover, are expecting Punk to make occasional appearances on Dynamite. In those weeks, members of The Elite and the Blackpool Combat Club would likely be featured on Collision.
These plans indicate a flexible approach to talent utilization, allowing for cross-brand appearances and ensuring a mix of star power on both Dynamite and Collision. Fans can look forward to seeing how this strategy unfolds as AEW continues to expand its programming lineup.
