Dave Meltzer confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Konosuke Takeshita changed his name during the Rampage tapings. This got out on social media, but it wasn’t 100% solid. This did, indeed, take place on AEW Rampage, and it will air on Friday’s show.

Konosuke Takeshita is now known as El Hijo de Don Callis. It was not noted how they might shorten that name, or whether it is just a nickname. It wouldn’t surprise us to see it pop up on his nameplate during the former Konosuke Takeshita’s entrances.

Don Callis has a ton of heat with pro wrestling fans because he is Don Callis. Few approach promos like he does, and pro wrestling fans love to hate him.

It appears that this fresh coat of paint for Konosuke Takeshita will continue to elevate him as a top heel for AEW. Let’s just see how his new name goes.
