Sting shocked the world when he made his debut in AEW back in December 2020. For the most part, he has been featured heavily on AEW television being paired up with Darby Allin. Prior to his AEW debut, Sting was part of WWE but it didn’t go well. In fact, it appears Eric Bischoff believes Sting never should have wrestled in WWE.

Sting debuted in WWE back at Survivor Series 2014 and had a handful of matches. He would end up losing to Triple H at WrestleMania 31 and then lost to Seth Rollins again at Night of Champions.

He was forced to end his in-ring career again after suffering a neck injury while taking a Bucklebomb from Rollins. Fans and peers alike were utterly disappointed with Sting’s WWE stint.

While speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff talked about Sting’s run in WWE. Bischoff made it clear that he believes Sting should have never wrestled in WWE.

“I was really happy for him. I started to get a little bit concerned when it was going to be a match because I just wasn’t convinced that Steve should be doing a match. It was the injuries, his age, having been off for a long time. Those are a lot of odds that are stacking against you, no matter who you are. I’d been a lot happier to see him getting inducted into the Hall of Fame, get his ‘just due’ and the respect that he deserved, and kinda leave it at that. Regardless of whether he’d have gone over or not. To me, that didn’t matter nearly as much. Is this how you want people to remember your last match? I was disappointed.”

Sting also set a unique milestone with his appearance on AEW Fight Forever. Sting also knows how he wants to end his professional wrestling career. For the time being, AEW is booking a feud between Sting and Chris Jericho, so we’ll have to see how that goes.
