WWE introduced new title belts for the company’s top champions. Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, was recently presented with a single title belt. Meanwhile, on the RAW brand, Seth Rollins became the new holder of the WWE World Heavyweight Title. There is a reason for those changes.

Rhea Ripley traded the SmackDown Women’s Title for the new WWE Women’s World Title, and Asuka did the same with the RAW Women’s Title for the new WWE Women’s Title. There are speculations about the introduction of new women’s tag titles, and there have been rumors of an upgrade to the men’s tag titles.

According to a report by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Triple H wanted to refresh all the titles and give them a new look, which led to the introduction of the new belts. Paul Heyman was seen holding both the WWE and Universal Title belts on his shoulders. There has been speculation about whether Heyman will continue to carry both titles while Reigns carries the new one, as this concept has reportedly been a topic of discussion within the company.

Roman Reigns’ title holds more significance in terms of lineage compared to Rollins’ title. During the presentation of Reigns’ new belt on SmackDown, Paul Heyman was seen carrying both the WWE and Universal Title belts on his shoulders. Sources suggest that there have been discussions about Heyman continuing to carry both titles while Reigns carries the new one.

It report also noted that there are reasons to retain the additional titles, particularly to further differentiate The Tribal Chief (Reigns) from the other champions. One of the belts represents WWE’s rich history, carried by legends such as Steve Austin, Pedro Morales, Bret Hart, and others. The other belt holds its own significance, having gained more value on SmackDown compared to the world title on RAW. Barrasso emphasized the importance of preserving the historical significance, which is intended to be transferred onto Reigns’ new title.

We will have to see what WWE changes around next. Triple H has a few ideas, and he is able to push for the ones that he really wants to see happen. Now, every top champion in WWE has a new belt, and a change could be coming to others as well.
