AEW will soon see the return of CM Punk to the company. He will be a part of the June 17th AEW Collision show, and he will continue with the brand for the foreseeable future. Tony Khan is hoping for the best.

There were issues with AEW bringing CM Punk back to the company. Ace Steel’s status was a sticking point, because he was rehired, but he’s not allowed to actually show up to the shows and must work remotely.

While speaking to the Barstool podcast, Tony Khan relayed his opinion about CM Punk’s upcoming AEW return. All in all, Tony Khan expects the Second City Savior to connect with AEW fans.

“Well I think it will be very exciting to see how the fans react, but I expect a very positive reaction particularly in Chicago for the first episode and I think then going forward, you know CM Punk is one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, so certainly he’s going to get a great reaction and depending on who his opponent is and the type of reaction he’s trying to get, I expect CM Punk to connect with the crowd as well as anybody in the entire pro wrestling business.”

“He has an amazing connection with the fans, and I think that’s part of longevity and his mystique is his amazing connection with the crowd. CM Punk is a really great wrestler and very excited to have him back in AEW starting this Saturday night on TNT on AEW Collision.”

This is quite an interesting take for Tony Khan to express. After all, the trouble between CM Punk and AEW were well known and made a lot of headlines.

CM Punk, as part of his agreement with AEW, is not allowed to ever speak about Brawl Out. It seems that fans might never hear the whole story from those who were involved. There is, at least, hope that everyone can put that in the past.
