Dolph Ziggler has been a mainstay on WWE television since signing with the company in 2004. The Showoff has accomplished a lot in WWE but that doesn’t mean he is has no regrets. That said, Ziggler was heartbroken over his storyline with Mandy Rose and Otis for a good reason.
Back in 2020, Otis and Mandy Rose were engaged in a romantic storyline, akin to Beauty and The Beast. Dolph Ziggler did everything he could in order to prevent them from getting together. Despite that, fans were heavily invested in their ongoing storyline.
Even Sonya Deville was part of the feud for good measure. The storyline culminated in Mandy Rose helping Otis to defeat Dolph Ziggler at WrestleMania 36 and then giving Otis a big kiss right after his major win.
While speaking with Sam Roberts, Dolph Ziggler made it clear that he absolutely loved the storyline. That said, Ziggler revealed that he was Heartbroken over the fact that the storyline didn’t take place in front of a crowd due to the pandemic.
“I hate, I f****** hate that I had one singles match in 18 years and it was on a soundproof stage with no fans. And here’s why I hate it. I don’t hate it because I got one ever and there was nobody there. That’s hilarious, that’s a great rib. I am heartbroken that this beautiful story of this kick-ass lady and this badass guy that you’re rooting for, and this ass 80s bad guy with his collar popped. It’s my whole life, I’m finally on TV.
I finally get it and we invest so much time and we have like, not the matches, not the stuff that you guys see is important. The behind-the-scenes things were… Sonya and I had this weird chemistry right off the bad where we seem like these Bond villains. This is the most beautiful story I’ve ever been a part of in his company. I’m so proud of it and I go all I wanted, not to wrestle in front of you guys. That would have been awesome. That moment where I get punched in the balls and Otis picks up Mandy and they kiss, and I’m heartbroken that this is not in front of 80,000 people and it broke my heart because it was the payoff to a long story.”
Dolph Ziggler also challenged Conor McGregor to a best-of-three series. Only time will tell whether WWE will end up having anything worthwhile planned for Dolph Ziggler in the near future.
