WWE fans were talking about Lacey Evans and Sgt Slaughter once again this week, and controversy was a part of the conversation. The WWE Hall of Famer did not appreciate the Lady of WWE’s new gimmick, and he made no secret about that fact.
Lacey Evans has fired several shots at Sgt Slaughter’s daughter. That situation seems to be far from finished for everyone involved. It all boiled down to respect for Slaughter, something that he felt slighted on with Lacey Evans borrowing his gimmick, although he was able to avoid outright naming Evans during his interview with Busted Open Radio.
Sgt Slaughter has actually spoken about this subject in the past. During a previous post, the WWE Hall of Famer tweeted out, “Lacey WHO?” when asked if he is okay with her using his finisher.
Ringside News reached out to a tenured member of WWE’s creative team. We asked about the whole Sgt Slaughter controversy, and how it is being perceived within the company.
We were rhetorically asked if Sgt Slaughter “doesn’t realize the business constantly reaches to the past? What was The Iron Sheik? That wasn’t disrespectful to The Sheik?”
We were also told that there is “no backlash” on Lacey Evans over the whole ordeal. This is not something that was looked at as her fault at all.
That being said, WWE did not book Lacey Evans for SmackDown this week. She also doesn’t seem to have a push in her future at all. Only time will tell if that ever changes.
