KENTA is one of the most well-known Japanese pro wrestlers in recent memory. He made his way to WWE back in 2014, where he was known as Hideo Itami. That didn’t last long as he left WWE and is now part of NJPW again. While speculation is running rampant that he will likely be CM Punk’s opponent at Forbidden Door II, it appears KENTA doesn’t care if his match with CM Punk doesn’t happen.
CM Punk and KENTA are certainly no strangers to each other. CM Punk has openly credited KENTA for the idea of the GTS finisher as far back as 2012 as well. Despite this, KENTA still has a lot of issues with Punk and it is unlikely to end anytime soon.
Sean Ross Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW is planning for KENTA to work the Forbidden Door II event, where he will likely square off against The Second City Saint. KENTA demanded that AEW President Tony Khan pay him a lot of money to make the match happen.
A fan recently took to Twitter and stated that he wants to see CM Punk square off against Tetsuya Naito. KENTA saw the fan’s tweet and replied to it, making it clear that Khan should do that match instead as he isn’t getting money to face Punk. KENTA made it clear that he doesn’t care if he doesn’t get to square off against CM Punk.
Sounds good to me They are not gonna give me the bag So Punk vs Naito. Do it. idc
CM Punk vs Kenta is a match that fans have been demanding for years now, but it is unlikely to happen at the Forbidden Door event now. Regardless, perhaps fans might get to see the two compete against each other one day.
