Andrade El Idolo is set to make his return to AEW television as a part of the upcoming Collision show. Now that we know when he is expected to return, we have a bit of information about a cameo he rejected to hype that new announcement.

Miro and Thunder Rosa were both shown backstage at AEW Dynamite a few weeks ago. They were heading to Tony Khan’s office, and that was all done to hype Collision, the company’s new show. Andrade was also supposed to be in that parade to TK’s office.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Andrade El Idolo was supposed to make a cameo on AEW Dynamite. That being said, he didn’t want to do it, and “Andrade is heading back to AEW, but it hasn’t been without some speed bumps.” The reason he gave was not noted.

Fightful Select can confirm that Andrade was at the May 10 AEW Dynamite tapings. Originally, Andrade was set to appear in a segment similar to that of Miro and Thunder Rosa where he’d walk into Tony Khan’s office, teasing the impending announcement of AEW Collision. However, we’re told that he didn’t want to do that segment, but weren’t told why. He was at the May 17 episode of Dynamite and filmed a backstage segment for social media, and is expected to compete on the Collision brand as announced.

Andrade is nearing an in-ring return and was been working out in the ring ahead of the May 10 Dynamite, but those close to him say that he’s insisted he wasn’t not physically ready yet. Things have changed, as he’s confirmed for a show in Mexico, and was in talks for an event in Puerto Rico in June, but we haven’t been told if he’s planning on wrestling at the latter or simply making an appearance.

It was also noted that , “there were rumors that Andrade got surgery in the fall to be ready for the debut of Collision, but we’ve confirmed that Andrade, nor the rest of the AEW roster knew about Collision or the potential of it at that point.”

Andrade El Idolo claimed that he had no idea that he was going to be a part of AEW Collision. They might not have known at that point, but he was certainly smartened up.

We will have to see what happens with Andrade El Idolo in AEW. He demands a certain type of attention, and his talent also sets him apart from the pack. Hopefully, he can see a lot more success in AEW as part of their Saturday night roster.
