CM Punk remains one of the biggest and most controversial names in the history of professional wrestling and that’s highly unlikely to change anytime soon. He will finally make his return at AEW Collision’s debut episode and now it appears that Punk referenced his AEW All Out meltdown following the announcement.
The Straight Edge superstar had been absent since All Out last year and fans wondered if he would ever come back. It was then reported that The Second City Saint will be returning to AEW programming as the main attraction for their new show AEW Collision.
Of course, that is exactly what happened as it was announced on Dynamite this week that CM Punk will appear during the debut episode of AEW Collision. That said, there were a lot of mixed reactions to this announcement.
Following the announcement, CM Punk took to his Instagram stories and shared a link to the dodgeball scene in “Billy Madison”, where Adam Sandler plays a grown man who goes back to elementary, middle, and high school.
In the dodgeball scene, Billy tells a group of children they are in “big, big trouble” before destroying them. This is clearly a reference to his infamous meltdown at All Out’s post-media scrum, where he mentioned working with children while being old himself.
We will have to wait and see how CM Punk’s return to AEW television will influence the company as a whole. After all, many people have been clamoring to see the Second City Saint for so long.
