Samoa Joe is a highly skilled and accomplished professional wrestler, who has competed all over the world over the past couple of decades. His physically imposing presence has helped make him a star in any promotion he has been a part of. Joe will also be a part of AEW Collision and it appears he has a high opinion of the upcoming show.
The company recently announced AEW Collision, which will be debuting on June 17th, marking the return of Saturday night shows. AEW will hold the debut episode of Collision at the United Center in Chicago and the hype for the show is evident.
While there has been no official announcement that CM Punk will be present during the show, all signs point toward him returning during the debut episode. It will also feature a brand split of sorts and focus on more individual talent.
While speaking with Evan Mack on The Kick Rocks Wrestling Podcast, Samoa Joe was asked about AEW Collision being added to the company’s lineup. Joe made it clear that the show will give more opportunities to talent and let them shine.
”Obviously it’s exciting to add another show to the lineup for AEW. Doing Saturday night wrestling, I mean, obviously if the TV model was anything like it has been in the past, I would kind of believe some of those comments. But it’s a very different world and a very different environment. I think Saturday nights are a really great night.
I’ve always enjoyed events that I’ve seen on Saturday nights. To have the opportunity to kind of give a lot of the AEW roster to kind of give a lot of the AEW roster that maybe doesn’t get enough time throughout the week and showcase a lot of the talent that we’ve had, and I think that’s a valid criticism. When you look at the AEW roster, you see the tremendous, talented athletes, there’s almost not enough time to see them all. I think AEW Collision will be able to definitely expand the fan experience as far as the wrestlers that you get to see.”
AEW wrestlers are also anxious about the change in schedules thanks to Collision. Numerous top talent will be part of AEW Collision, including the likes of FTR, Thunder Rosa, Andrade El Idolo and more. We’ll have to see what will become of the show once it starts airing next month.
