WWE always has a lot of plans for their future events, but they can never predict an injury. With NXT Battleground coming on May 28th, fans are about to see a big change in plans right in front of their eyes.

Click here for our complete coverage of Shawn Michaels’ WWE NXT Battleground conference call.

Indi Hartwell was NXT Women’s Champion upon her call-up to the main roster. Then she relinquished her title during an emotional segment during NXT. It turns out that her call-up had nothing to do with dropping her title.

Indi Hartwell was also injured, and that caused her to vacate the title. In fact, NXT had plans for her to wrestle at NXT Battleground, but those plans changed.

During the NXT Battleground press conference, Shawn Michaels was asked about Indi Hartwell’s situation. This is when HBK revealed that if Hartwell wasn’t injured, then she would have wrestled on Sunday’s card.

Had Indi Hartwell not been injured, the plan was to include her at Battleground. They would have loved for her to have a lengthy reign as Women’s Champion. However, “the unfortunate news” was that she got called up to the main roster. Shawn pointed out that the fact that so many roster members have moved up to the main roster is evidence that the system is effective and working.

A tournament was started to crown a new NXT Women’s Champion. Lyra Valkyria and Tiffany Stratton are slated to throw down in the finals of that tournament at Battleground. Interestingly enough, Stratton was picked to win the NXT Women’s Title in a change of plans during the match where Indi Hartwell was injured. Then Indi returned to finish the match and retain.

We will have to see what the future holds for Indi Hartwell. She is back with The Way on WWE RAW, so she can be on television, acting in backstage promos, while not really putting her body at risk. Only time will tell how far her star will rise on the main roster.

What’s your take on WWE NXT changing up these plans? Sound off in the comments!
