WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is widely recognized as one of the greatest professional wrestlers to have ever stepped inside the squared circle. After retirement, Austin made numerous appearances and even competed in a match. That being said, it appears that he isn’t interested in a full-time gig with WWE.
He came out of in-ring retirement for an unexpected match at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens, which was highly acclaimed by fans and pro wrestlers alike. Naturally, fans were happy to see him compete again.
The Texas Rattlesnake squared off against Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match, where the pro wrestling legend took a ton of bumps throughout the match. In the end, Austin won and hasn’t competed in a match since then.
While speaking to Jimmy Traina on the SI Media podcast, Steve Austin was asked if he would ever consider returning to WWE as an announcer or manager. Austin stated that while he would entertain business offers, he has no intention of doing a full-time gig with WWE.
“Right now, off the top of my head, I say no, because I don’t want to put the time into living my life back on the road again. I rode that road hard. I loved that lifestyle, I worked my ass off, I put my body on the line, and I ran hard. Now, I’m at a place where I’m still living life. I started racing due to the fact that I met some people on the show and started racing. I work with Kawasaki Motorsports, that’s about as much traveling as I want to do is going to races on weekends and stuff like that.
I’m happy where I’m at. I will always entertain any kind of business offer, but I spent enough time on the road and I’m just picking and choosing. I still want to work and I still want to be productive. I’m in the beer business. I have three beers with El Segundo Brewing Company, I work with Kawasaki, and I’ve got some other private ventures that I’m into. I don’t want to get out on the road again. I’ve been there and I’ve done it, and I ran hard.”
We will have to wait and see whether Steve Austin will make his return to WWE television somewhere down the line. After all, fans really missed him after Austin wasn’t able to compete at WrestleMania 39 this year.
