AEW has managed to bring quite a few legends from the world of professional wrestling into the company. With their return, sometimes the company had to resort to making new music due to licensing issues. Now it appears that AEW’s composer addressed a recent backlash, where he was accused of ripping off Sabu’s AEW theme.
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was a packed show, as it was the go-home edition before Double Or Nothing. It featured numerous surprises, including Sabu making his shocking debut.
Sabu’s return also featured his iconic Return To The Huka’ theme song, but this didn’t go down well with former ECW composer Harry Slash, who ended up accusing Tony Khan of ripping off his song.
Not only that, but it led to a lot of backlash from fans who went after AEW composer Mikey Rukus for allegedly stealing Sabu’s ECW theme song. While he acknowledged Harry Slash’s influence in the business, Rukus noted that he did what he had to do within 30 minutes. In another tweet, Rukus simply told his haters who were outraged to simply cry more.
All love bro, those tracks you made were iconic. Taz actually named his first theme I made for him, not me. Simply tipping the cap when I had a 30 minute window to make something. 👍
Cry harder
It is highly unlikely Tony Khan will bother to respond to the accusations anyway. Regardless, Mikey Rukus has a good track record for composing songs in AEW, so he won’t lose any sleep over this backlash.
