WWE Used Zelina Vega To Get Legado Del Fantasma Over

Zelina Vega’s stock has been on a continuous rise ever since she returned to WWE last year. While Vega did have to go on a hiatus again due to injury, she remained relevant on social media and fans didn’t forget her either. She joined Legado Del Fantasma last year and it appears WWE used Vega to get the faction over.

After a long hiatus because of injury, Zelina Vega made her return on Friday Night Smackdown last year, where she came back alongside Legado Del Fantasma. That move took people by surprise, as Vega ended up taking Elektra Lopez’s spot.

Prior to working with Zelina, Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro were highlights of NXT and saw great success there. That said, they were virtually unknown on the main roster.

While speaking with Freddie Prinze Jr, Zelina Vega talked about joining the group. Zega stated that she was added to Legado Del Fantasma in order to get them over with the WWE Universe.

“I said the same thing. I was like, ‘He doesn’t need me, though.’ He’s a great wrestler and a great promo. Why does he need me? The way it was explained to me was, ‘the group is new to the main roster, you’re very known by the SmackDown audience, by putting him with you, people are like, what’s this about?

We know her to be the heel manager, we know her to be the heel wrestler, if she’s introducing them, that means that’s what they’re about.’

It was really just to help make the transition for the fans easier to go, ‘that’s who they are.’ I was like, ‘Okay.’ Since then, it’s evolved so much. I didn’t really do all that much talking, to be honest.

It’s evolved so much since now. Being with Rey, first of all, dream come true, what the hell. Eight year old Thea is like, ‘what is life?’ Now, having Rey on our side, and having LWO be a thing again, it’s crazy. Especially because Rey is like, ‘you’re the first female member of LWO ever.’ It’s crazy. We’re wrestlers in a team, not me managing wrestlers.”

Zelina Vega captured the hearts of the Puerto Rico crowd after her performance against Rhea Ripley at WWE Backlash. No matter what, Zelina Vega has finally established herself as a loveable babyface and that’s what is important to her now.
