WWE has a lot of things going on behind the scenes, including negotiating new television deals. It seems that the exclusive window that FOX had to lock down SmackDown has expired, but there’s still hope for the USA Network.
WWE and USA Network have a long history together. They might have migrated off the network for a few years, but they did eventually return. Now, it seems that they are at another crossroads.
Brandon Thurston tweeted out that Nick Khan said something very interesting at the JPMorgan TMT event. It was stated that WWE is still in the exclusive talks’ window with NBCU.
Nick Khan on U.S. media rights exclusive windows for Raw & Smackdown: “We’re just out of the exclusive window with Fox. We’re still in the window with NBCU.”
WWE has a lot of options for RAW and SmackDown. There is no doubt that they company will find homes for RAW and SmackDown, but they might move channels, or even platforms in the process.
WWE is also open to the idea of adding another hour to SmackDown. There are a lot of things on the table, as WWE is open for business when it comes to practically anything at this point. There is also a thought of adding an adult element to RAW’s 3rd hour, and neither show is locked down to any specific night of the week.
We will have continued coverage of WWE’s ongoing television rights talks, right here at Ringside News. Keep checking back for more updates.
