WWE is in a state of transition in a lot of ways, and fans might find themselves with even more from the blue brand than they ever had before. Even in the WWE Draft, RAW got more picks because they have an additional hour, but that might not be the case for long.
We previously reported that WWE CEO Nick Khan stated that they are open to adding another hour to SmackDown. After all, FOX’s exclusive window for TV talks has expired, leaving only NBCU within the exclusive window.
During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that WWE has discussed the idea of adding another hour to SmackDown “for years.” It’s really all about the buyer and what they want.
I can tell you, for a fact, that the idea of making SmackDown 3 hours has been discussed for years. It’s all about money. If someone comes around and wants SmackDown to be 3 hours, then SmackDown will be 3 hours.
It was also noted that SmackDown adding a 3rd hour to the show wouldn’t be a huge surprise. We will have to see what happens in this situation, but money talks, and it could add another hour to WWE programming as well.
The next set of TV talks will likely bring a ton of money, and even more than they already had coming in. Now, we know that SmackDown could be even longer, but it all depends on who wants the show and how much of it they want.
