CM Punk was suspended after Brawl Out, but Ace Steel was fired. After a few months off, it seems that AEW brought Ace Steel back for Punk, but it wasn’t enough. Now, a lot of questions remain about the future of the Second City Savior in AEW.

AEW reportedly gave CM Punk and Ace Steel the impression that he would be a producer on Collision. The company changing this apparent agreement is also a sticking point. Now, CM Punk holding out because of this situation.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that CM Punk requested a feud with Samoa Joe. That is why talk of his rivalry with Chris Jericho died off. It was supposed to be Punk vs Joe, but now that is up in the air.

Before [the issues started], I think Punk asked for Samoa Joe. That’s why it was going to be Samoa Joe. Yeah, that’s why it was going to be Samoa Joe.

Whether CM Punk wanted to wrestle Chris Jericho or Samoa Joe is a moot point if he doesn’t return to work. AEW might have sent out a legal letter to Punk that could encourage him to make a return, even if Ace Steel isn’t allowed on the road.

AEW actually re-hired Ace Steel a while ago. Of course, Ace Steel was the sticking point with CM Punk, because AEW was willing to re-hire Steel, but he wasn’t allowed in the building for their television taping events. AEW originally denied that they re-hired Ace Steel, but it’s pretty clear at this point that they did.

What’s your take on this CM Punk situation? Should AEW cut him loose at this point? Sound off in the comments!
