AEW planned to focus on CM Punk as part of their new Collision show. They even split the rosters so a majority of people on Punk’s side would work their new Saturday show. Then CM Punk pulled out of the deal after an issue with AEW’s treatment of Ace Steel came up.

AEW reportedly gave CM Punk and Ace Steel the impression that he would be a producer on Collision. The company changing this apparent agreement is also a sticking point. Now, CM Punk holding out because of this situation.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer brought up the CM Punk situation. It was said that, as of this weekend, the deal with CM Punk and AEW is not dead yet.

“We don’t know if he’s coming back or not. I know it’s not dead, though. At least, it wasn’t dead on Satuday like he wasn’t going to. What if he starts again, and quits?”

AEW might have sent out a legal letter to Punk that could encourage him to make a return, even if Ace Steel isn’t allowed on the road. AEW actually re-hired Ace Steel a while ago. Of course, Ace Steel was the sticking point with CM Punk, because AEW was willing to re-hire Steel, but he wasn’t allowed in the building for their television taping events. AEW originally denied that they re-hired Ace Steel, but it’s pretty clear at this point that they did.

At this point, we are still in a waiting game with CM Punk, but we’ve been here before. It is just unfortunate that he is seemingly holding the future of Collision in his hands as he does it.
