Mercedes Mone has become one of the biggest female pro wrestlers on the planet, who decided to carve her own path after parting ways with WWE. She made her way to NJPW and STARDOM – becoming a major star in Japan. Now it appears that she signed a new contract with NJPW before her recent injury.
Mercedes Mone faced off against Willow Nightingale at the NJPW Resurgence event, in order to crown the first NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion. While Mone lost the match, she also suffered an ankle injury and had to be carried to the back.
This was a major cause of concern for many, as fans believed she suffered a terrible injury that will set her back for many months. That said, Mercedes Mone was supposed to win the match before the injury.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Mercedes Mone’s injury and gave a brief note on her NJPW status. Meltzer revealed that Mone had signed a contract extension with NJPW before her injury.
She did a new deal, but I don’t know how many dates there are in the new deal.
Mercedes Mone broke her silence after suffering that injury. A WWE Superstar also went with Mone to the hospital following her injury. We will have to wait and see when Mone will be able to make her triumphant return to in-ring action.
