John Cena was the face of WWE from 2006 to 2016 and carried the company on his back throughout the Ruthless Aggression as well as the PG era of WWE. During that time, he feuded with numerous top stars in WWE, especially The Rock. Now it appears Cena believed that he had no reason to elevate The Rock during their feud.

Back in 2008 to 2009, John Cena called out The Rock for leaving WWE and going to Hollywood, while he still was actively competing in WWE. After Cena himself ventured into Hollywood, he realized just how wrong he was.

Even then, John Cena previously used that fact during his feud with The Rock. In 2012, the heated rivalry between John Cena and The Rock stemmed from actual animosity between the two professional wrestlers.

Their conflict came to a head on the February 27th episode of Monday Night RAW, when The Rock made a much-anticipated comeback and was met by Cena. The two wrestlers verbally sparred, and Cena took a swipe at The Rock by suggesting he had written his lines on his wrist.

While speaking on NotSam Wrestling, John Cena was asked about calling out The Rock for having lines written on his wrist during their promo exchange so many years ago. Cena made it clear that he had no reason to elevate The Rock during their feud.

I’d like to think that I gave every chance to speak my best. The thing with our matchup, the thing that some people might not have seen was that it was Michael Jordan and LeBron James in their prime. To do that in this scenario, you do not have ot elevate The Rock. He will always be in his own universe – I don’t have to give more steam to that rocket. To make the billing, you need to elevate John. So I was punching from underneath, but still punching and just looking for whatever.

John Cena also recently revealed whether he will have a third match with The Rock. John Cena also stated that he would not be who he is without The Rock. Regardless, Cena will always be gad for his feud with The Rock and that’s all that matters.
