AJ Styles has been considered one of the best pro wrestlers by both fans and his peers alike. Fans continue to rally behind him no matter what, especially because it’s been a while since he has held a World Title in WWE. Now it appears Styles had something interesting to say about the WWE World Heavyweight Title in regard to Roman Reigns’ current limited schedule.
After making his shocking debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble, AJ Styles competed in several high-profile feuds against stars such as Randy Orton, John Cena and many others. His journey to WWE was certainly a long and arduous one.
AJ Styles is a former two-time WWE Champion and is set to compete in the finals to crown the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Night Of Champions this month. The title was introduced due to Roman Reigns’ irregular schedule.
While speaking to The New York Post, The Phenomenal One was asked to share his thoughts on the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Styles stated that he believes the WWE World Heavyweight Title is the workhorse title simply because of Roman Reigns’ irregular schedule. He is also ready to defend it against Roman Reigns to prove it’s not a secondary title.
“Is it a secondary? Well, if the Raw championship is held by Roman, the SmackDown championship is held by Roman, then how can you argue that it’s not? We had to make a new championship because Roman holds them all.
What happens if he decides to wrestle for the World Heavyweight championship? It is what it is and we got what we got. If we make the best of it, and if and when Roman does challenge [for it], we beat the brakes off of him, whomever it might be, then we’ll see what title’s secondary.
This guy’s gonna be on the pay-per-views, he’s gonna be on the live events, he’s gonna do all these things that need to be done. When I was [WWE] champion I was on all the live events, I was on all the pay-per-views, all the TV’s. That’s what you do.
This is what you want to do, this is what you want to be. This is what you’re trying to get to in your career. I’m not mad at him. I told him, ‘if I could do it I would, but I’m not Roman Reigns.’”
We will have to wait and see whether AJ Styles will be able to defeat Seth Rollins at Night Of Champions on May 27th and become the first-ever WWE World Heavyweight Champion. After all, Styles has more than enough credentials to prove his worth.
