AEW was expected to include CM Punk in their big announcement for Collision, but that didn’t happen. Now, the company might change their plans for the debut episode of Collision in Chicago.
The Second City Savior was absent from AEW’s Collision announcement, and that got the rumor mill going in a big way. After all, CM Punk was set to be a focal point for their new Saturday Collision show.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that AEW staff were told on Friday last week that Daily’s Place is a big possibility for the Collision debut at this point. Although no official decision has been made, they were told to get ready.
I know on Friday that people were told that Daily’s Place, that there was a perspective move-in on Tuesday, and move-out on Thursday — the 16th and 18th of June, so they were told it would be something they would know one way or another in a week.
CM Punk went on quite an Instagram story spree after news of his issues with AEW broke. He also uploaded an alleged email from Bryan Alvarez to CM Punk, one that mentioned Maria Kanellis in a very interesting way. Alvarez then unloaded on Punk in reply.
A report came out later which said AEW actually re-hired Ace Steel “several months ago.” Of course, Ace Steel was the sticking point with CM Punk, because AEW was willing to re-hire Steel, but he wasn’t allowed in the building for their television taping events. AEW has since denied that they re-hired Ace Steel.
We will have to see how this situation pans out. Obviously, there is a lot to unpack with CM Punk involved. Keep checking back with Ringside News for the most up-to-date information.
