Many pro wrestling fans rolled their eyes when AEW signed Orange Cassidy to a contract. Freshly Squeezed eventually won over a lot of his doubters, and he is still producing impressive matches every week as he defends the International Title.

Tony Khan has been facing a barrage of criticism lately regarding his booking decisions. One particular point of contention has been his heavy push of Orange Cassidy. However, a recent report suggests that there might be a method behind Khan’s madness, specifically concerning the International Championship.

Originally introduced as the All-Atlantic Championship, the title was later renamed the “International Championship.” This change was prompted by fan backlash, as many questioned the inclusion of Japan in a belt associated with the Atlantic Ocean, geographically distant from Japan.

PW Insider reported that Tony Khan has been strategically elevating the status of the AEW International Championship. The intention is to showcase it prominently during Collision.

AEW Collision is set to debut on June 17th. At this time, we have no idea where they will actually hold that debut episode, because Daily’s Place is a backup plan if CM Punk won’t do the show.

Only time will tell how things turn out for AEW in the next few months, but it seems that Orange Cassidy is going to continue doing his thing on top of the company.
