WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff is one of the biggest names in the industry, whose opinion still carries weight due to his wealth of knowledge. While Bischoff has a lot of respect for Vince McMahon, it appears Bischoff doesn’t believe McMahon deserves to be called a creative genius.
Vince McMahon purchased his father’s promotion for $1 million in the 1980s and has now made it a $9 billion company, which helped in WWE getting sold to Endeavour earlier this year.
Vince McMahon has been responsible for the creation of numerous iconic characters in pro wrestling during The Attitude Era – the biggest of which is definitely ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.
That said, many people have criticized Vince McMahon’s creative vision for the past decade or so. While speaking during My Bizness, Eric Bischof was asked about the differences between WCW and WWE, and how Bischoff never had a team like McMahon has Nick Khan, Bruce Prichard and others. Bischoff then stated that he believes Vince McMahon is not a creative genius at all.
“That’s true. One of the things that I think…. Vince McMahon gets a lot of credit for, things that I think he shouldn’t get credit for, I don’t think he’s the most creative person in the world. I never have. I never will. I mean he is creative, don’t get me wrong. I am not taking anything away from his creative. He’s come up with some amazing stuff. But he’s also s*** the bed frequently. Where Vince’s true genius, in my opinion, and this is the part that is so rare.
This is where Vince in his own way falls into the [category]…. so this will be controversial, but people like Elon Musk, Vince McMahon, [Michael] Bloomberg. Those people who build, they start out with a vision. They’re sitting in a lawn chair somewhere, drinking a beer, or they are sitting on a beach or walking down the street, and they have an idea, just an idea. They’re able to take that thought, this intangible, neuro-electrical impulse and turn it into a tangible, viable vision that employs thousands of people and generates billions of dollars.”
Vince McMahon also fined an ex-WWE Superstar a lot of money after an embarrassing international incident. Regardless, there will be many who do not like Vince McMahon’s creative mind and that is unlikely to ever change.
