WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley is considered a legend in the pro wrestling business. Mick Foley worked in other companies and competed against several top stars in the industry. Being a veteran, it comes as no surprise that Foley refused to do certain dangerous spots, inside and outside the squared circle.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mick Foley has been responsible for creating numerous iconic moments in WWE history. From his death-defying plunge off the top of the Hell in a Cell structure at the hands of The Undertaker to his introduction of the unforgettable sock puppet to Mr. McMahon during his hospital stay, Foley has always given his all.
The Hardcore Legend truly made a name for himself by putting his body on the line for the entertainment of fans. Unsurprisingly, there was only so much his body could take before it gave out.
While speaking on a recent episode of Foley is Pod, the Hardcore Legend talked about how he never refused to do anything inside the squared circle. That said, Foley revealed he refused to take a chair shot from an untrained person on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“I can’t think of one. Yeah, I cannot think of one. For example, I’ll give you an example of something that I did say no to so people know, so it’s not just a blank check. Is that when I was co hosting the Jimmy Kimmel show, they had gimmicked steel chair. And I said, But what about the rim of the chair? What about that, you know, and they were like, Oh, I said, yeah, if he misses me, it’s gonna split my head wide open. And he’s got no history whatsoever in using it. Not talking about Jimmy, Jimmy wasn’t gonna hit me.
So I said no to a chair shot, even though it was a gimmick chair, because I was afraid, you know, I had no biases, what if he misses and I thought there was a good chance he would miss and the lip of the chair I mean, 27 stitches against Terry Funk, that opened me up like a can of sardines.”
Mick Foley was also accused of concealing the pain from his injuries for years. Regardless, Mick Foley knew he simply couldn’t take the risk and that’s all that matters to him.
What’s your take on what Mick Foley said? Do you agree that he never should have taken unprotected chair shots? Sound off in the comments!
