John Cena was the face of WWE for more than a decade and did a lot of work for the company while he was still an active WWE Superstar. He was also extremely polarizing throughout his career and accused of burying talent. Now it appears Cena was defended for protecting the business amid allegations of him burying talent.
John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and has accomplished everyone a pro wrestler would ever want in his career. That said, there were many people who simply hated John Cena.
This was mostly during the time he was in his ‘Super Cena’ phase, where Cena seldom lost a match and was accused of burying talent. Many people haven’t forgiven Cena for burying numerous stars over the years.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer Bully Ray addressed accusations that John Cena buried talent. He defended John Cena, stating that what Cena did was to protect the business.
“Sometimes when you’re at a level of a John Cena, just like [when] you’re at a level of a Hulk Hogan, you have a different feel, a different perspective of things. And you just know if something is right or something is not. Hulk was considered back in the day difficult to do business with. He was protecting the business and I think John does that also.”
John Cena himself addressed his reputation for burying talent recently. Regardless, we will have to wait and see when the Leader of Cenation will make his return to WWE television once again.
