WWE is in the middle of another turning point for the company. They are in the middle of talks about a new television home, and it seems that they have not come to any agreement with FOX and NBC Universal at this point. That being said, WWE doesn’t seem too worried about things.
BWE posted behind their private Twitter account and noted something very interesting. Although WWE has not locked down a new television home,
Ill get you info on TV deals when i get them. There is absolutely no worries on SD or any show.
PW Insider reported that NBCU and FOX’s window for exclusive talks with WWE has expired. That means other potential broadcasting partners can move in and make pitches to WWE.
The fact that the window for FOX and NBCU expired also explains why WWE was all but absent from their recent television upfront presentaitons.
WWE’s exclusive window to negotiate future media rights with FOX and NBC have either expired or are about to, PWInsiderElite.com has learned. WWE CEO Nick Khan noted during the most recent stockholders call that those outlets had about a month of exclusive negotiating rights and the belief within the company is they are about to or have already hit the point where WWE can open discussions with all potential media rights bidders for Raw, Smackdown, etc. in the United States.
WWE staff, Superstars, and management are not worried about this situation. WWE will find somewhere to air their programming, and they might even find themselves in a better deal.
Only time will tell where fans will have to watch RAW and SmackDown in a year from now. At this point, FOX and NBCU are not guarantees at all.
