WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff is a true veteran of professional wrestling and has seen the industry undergo numerous changes over the years. Bischoff has largely been critical of AEW, with no end in sight. With AEW Collision set to debut next month, it appears that Eric Bischoff warned Tony Khan over the show diluting the product as a whole.
Reports have suggested that AEW is in the process of bringing back CM Punk to the company. It was then reported that AEW would somehow get back Punk by having him be the main attraction in their new show called AEW Collision.
The belief is that AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery are expected to announce a new deal around the time of Warner Upfronts. This new deal will also likely give a ton of money to Tony Khan’s company. The announcement is set to be made on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite by Tony Khan.
AEW Collision will mark the third ongoing show under the AEW banner. While speaking on 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff talked about AEW Collision’s impending debut. That said, he warned Tony Khan that AEW Collision may just dilute the company’s overall product as a whole.
“Congratulations to Tony and the entire team at AEW. It’s a vote of confidence from a television partner and there’s no way that is not a wonderful thing.
I don’t feel as positive about a third show. Just because history has proven that diluting your product, and diluting your focus, and just diluting your resources for too much content is not strategically the best idea. Add to that, it’s a Saturday night show. I don’t know many 18-to-49-year-olds are home watching television on a Saturday night.
Maybe a bunch, but when I was in that demo I wouldn’t have been one of them. I just can’t imagine that there’s much of an audience for it. But hey, I’ve been wrong before, let’s see what happens.”
We will have to wait and see whether AEW’s new television deal will end up changing the course of pro wrestling forever. After all, AEW has all the momentum in the world right now and fans are excited to be a part of it.
