CM Punk and AEW might come to an agreement very soon that will see his return to television. That being said, it’s been quite an interesting road for the past year. The company hasn’t seen CM Punk on television since All Out, and they’ve done a very good job keeping his name off television as well.
It is expected that CM Punk will be a part of the new AEW Collision show, that will air on Saturdays. The Elite might get to stay away from Punk even more, because the rumors are that they won’t be booked on the same shows.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer brought up the CM Punk situation. He said that AEW actually filmed interviews where they discussed the situation. Although Punk was never named, the company still edited those interviews for fear of legal retaliation.
They did interviews, they talked about it. They never mentioned Punk’s name, because they weren’t allowed to mention his name, but they did interviews to beat around the bush on the story. Even that was edited out, because of the fear of legal reprisal. The biggest issue isn’t even Tony, and it isn’t most of the guys. It is the legal threats and because of what those are, Tony is playing it very careful.
It was also noted that CM Punk’s name isn’t mentioned on the AEW All Access show, but the situation is obviously referenced. Even then, AEW doesn’t want to push CM Punk’s buttons and risk him filing some sort of legal action against them.
We will have to see what will happen when CM Punk does return to AEW. At this time, he certainly has a lot of eyes on him.
What’s your take on CM Punk returning to AEW? Do you think that this is a good idea? Sound off in the comments!
