WWE has a lot of ideas to get viewership, and they are trying something new. Some fans simply forget that WWE’s shows are on the air, and the company figured out another way to remind them.

As we previously reported, that WWE aired AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio’s entrances prior to SmackDown this week. They streamed them on social media, leaving Edge’s entrance for the live show. There is a reason why they did this.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that WWE wanted to remind fans that SmackDown was starting. That is the reason why they aired those entrances online.
We’re told that WWE’s new method of going live on social media a couple of minutes before the show was to serve as an active reminder that the show was starting.
It was a bit of a surprise to see WWE streaming footage prior to SmackDown. We’ll have to see how well it did in terms of altering fans that SmackDown is on the air, but it certainly piqued our interest.
