WWE Planned Night Of Champions World Heavyweight Title Match Far Ahead Of Time

WWE is preparing to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion, and a big match at Night of Champions on May 27th will see that new title given to the winner of AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins. That being said, WWE locked that match down a while ago.

Behind Fightful’s paywall, Sean Sapp reported a note that said the decision to have AJ Styles win on SmackDown did not have anything to do with Edge’s promo. In fact, the final match of the tournament was determined far ahead of that.

Edge still has a bit of time before he finally retires, but he doesn’t have forever. Only time will tell if he gets another big title run on top of WWE before finally hanging up his boots.

The decision to have AJ Styles take on Seth Rollins in the main event of Night of Champions for the World Heavyweight Championship was made prior to Edge dropping those obvious hints that he wants another run on top before going out.
