Judgment Day is still going strong on RAW after a move from SmackDown as part of the 2023 WWE Draft. They have been around for almost a year now, and this is a very special time for them, especially Damian Priest.
Damian Priest may not have had a match at WrestleMania this year, but he had his own version of a personal WrestleMania when he squared off against Bad Bunny at Backlash. This event held special significance as it took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and they both represented their home island. Despite teaming up with Bad Bunny at WrestleMania two years ago, this singles match was undoubtedly the pinnacle of Priest’s career so far.
WWE captured the behind-the-scenes moments leading up to the Bad Bunny match in Puerto Rico, featuring Priest and the rest of The Judgment Day, in a short documentary. We can only hope that they plan on releasing an extended cut.
This exclusive footage gives fans a glimpse into their week-long preparations and activities prior to Backlash. The release of this documentary further highlights the significance and impact of the Priest versus Bad Bunny match.
During the short film, Finn Balor spoke about what the Judgment Day means as a stable, as they approach their one-year mark together. They have obviously spent some serious quality time on the road together, and it doesn’t seem like they’re close to a conclusion.
“The emotions that Damian is feeling this week, especially, have been very strong. We were speaking just a couple minutes ago; I said ‘Dude, are you nervous?’ He said [mimicking Priest’s voice] ‘Bro, I don’t have time to be nervous.’ He’s just been doing media appearance after media appearance after press conference, but he is more ready than I’ve ever seen him. It’s a beautiful thing to see him really step up and thrive. It’s gonna be a huge moment for Damian, and the whole of Judgement Day are gonna be there to support him.”
“I’m still shocked that I’m this calm,” Priest added shortly before his match. “I’m just excited more than anything. Just gotta remember this is what I do. The nerves, in general, are like any other night. Nothing extra. I feel good! I’m happy, I’m in a good place, I feel good. I damn sure look good!”
Damian Priest has a huge upside to him in WWE. He has quietly been a big time player, getting two big matches with Bad Bunny’s involvement. If you add in the fact that he has such close ties to Bad Bunny, then Damian Priest very well could be a massive name in WWE for years to come. The same is true to Dominik Mysterio, the youngest member of the Judgment Day stable.
This is an exciting time for Judgment Day fans as they get to see the stable interact on a new brand. We will have to see what the company does with Rhea Ripley holding the SmackDown Women’s Title on RAW, but since Bianca Belair was moved to SmackDown as RAW Women’s Champion, one would think a swap is an easy solution.
