Triple H gets a lot of special treatment wherever he goes. It turns out that one former WWE Superstar knows exactly what that’s like, but it wasn’t on purpose. Paul London once accidentally found himself in a situation where people thought he was very much connected to The Game.
In a recent interview with Wrestling Then And Now, Paul London shared a story about receiving special privileges during tours due to a unique connection he had with Triple H. This was obviously not expected, but it still made for quite a story.
Back in 2003, London inked a deal with WWE, and he enjoyed a run with the company. He was around WWE for about 5 years as an active competitor, achieving notable accomplishments such as holding the WWE Tag Team Title, World Tag Team Championship, and the Cruiserweight Title. However, his contract was terminated in November 2008, and the rumor is that he was fired for smiling at Vince McMahon before that iconic limo explosion angle.
During the interview, Paul London revealed that he shares both the first and middle name with Triple H. Interestingly, they also share the same initials in real life. This intriguing similarity resulted in London receiving VIP treatment on select WWE tours, where he enjoyed special privileges.
“Funny enough, he and I have the same initials. Like our first and middle name are the same. But our initials are PML. Our first two names are Paul Michael. The only difference is just our last names. But they both start with an L. So, when we’d travel overseas, I found myself getting all these extravagant rooms.”
“I remember in South Africa. We were down in Cape Town and I had like this bungalow like out in the jungle or something away from the main building and I had Brian [Kendrick] and I can’t remember, maybe Jimmy Yang, came over and they’re like, ‘what the hell?!’ I’m like, ‘what? Your rooms aren’t like that?’ They’re like, ‘no!’ And I was like, ‘well, stick with me guys.’ But like I kept getting these crazy rooms and then later on I was walking down the hallway. I can’t remember where this. This is some other tour and Hunter was like like, ‘how you like them rooms London?’ I was like, ‘oh, no.’ He goes, ‘don’t worry about it. [laugh]’ And he walked off.”
Paul London didn’t mean for people to think that he’s Triple H, but it just happened. After all, they do have similar legal names. Obviously, there is no substitution for Triple H, and any fan around would have pointed that out in a big way.
We’ll have to see if more stories like this come out in the future. After all, many people who love a portion of the luxury and accommodations that Triple H receives. If anything, we know that Triple H is being taken care of, because WWE realizes how valuable he is to the entire operation.
